there is nothing nursery in this nursery.

alexander's room is on the second floor, completely opposite sides to our master bedroom -not very convenient for a newborn. so before he was born, we added the crib to our bedroom along with a changing table and three drawers of clothes and baby stuff.
since he would be with us for the first few months, there was no rush to work on his room.

... 7 months later...
and still no room! so this month i made it a goal to start at least with the walls and decor. part of the reason i was putting it off was because it still had carpet. its the only room in the house that we havent change into wood floors, so for some reason my mind kept making excuses that i couldnt do anything to the room until we get the floor.

bad idea. so finally last week at 2am while browsing through pinterest i had an A-ha moment and like a crazy woman i went upstairs and ripped all the carpet. trash day was the next morning so i litteraly pulled the carpet, the foamy stuff and all the wood strips and nails along the walls.

i felt pretty proud of myself when my husband woke up and saw the rolls and rolls of stuff in our driveway.  (we had this deal that once i ripped the carpet and left everything ready, then he would put the wood floor -like he did the rest of our house)

anyways... now to the good stuff. the actual decorating..
ive been so inspired and obsessed with scandinavian and nordic styles. white walls, black furniture, grey tones and pops of color here and there.

i dont know what happened to me but im kind of horrified by cutesy baby blue childish decor. ahhh makes me squirm. i believe i can have a boy's room without having to be super cheesy about it. no themes (AHHH!), no characters (disney movies, sesame street -eeek!)

i know that when he grows up he will eventually be obsessed with some of these... but for now... ill get my way for as long as i can.

anyways...

i started working on artwork for the walls.
i did his initial nailing head nails in the form of his initial on a wood panel. then sort of weaved my way through it with black yarn.

of course camila had to have a little portrait. //made with ink.

then some other artwork and my favorite mini and maximus poster of '3 dudes', and voila!
first wall finished..

ill post more pictures eventually when we get the crib upstairs and the other walls are done.
hopefully in the next week..
